Eliza is a mum of 2 young children, living in New York and struggling with being a mother. She wants more from life. Now what really got me very excited about the film is that she is also a Mummy Blogger! You see why I say it “was supposed to be a film about me?” and about a lot of you too, bloggers or not!
Maybe my expectations were too high but what I really wanted most was to curl up on the sofa with too much chocolate and identify to her. I wanted to laugh, cry and say “THAT’S IT! That’s exactly it!!”.
It didn’t happen like this.
When going to the cinema is a rare occurrence, having a “DVD night in” has got something very special, especially with a film you really want to see. So I picked the evening with the least likelihood to be disturbed, I switched off phones and put on my favourite snugly socks.
Not more than 20 minutes into the film I started fidgeting… I got bored… I even went on to fold some laundry and did a bit of washing up while it was still playing in the background…
There is so much material to make it a fun and inspiring movie, but in my opinion, it turns out to be flat and pointless. I found that the plot was inexistent and rather than empathise with Eliza, I felt sorry for her! Everything is “mentioned” but nothing is really looked into with depth. The film seems to be a succession of funny moments and scenes you can relate to but there is something missing… Almost like a flowing link between all the scenes…
I would have loved to shout to the world “You have to watch this film!” but unfortunately I can’t and that’s such a shame…
If you've watched it and you don’t agree please let us know!

I was dissapointed too, and am wondering if my expectations weren't too high. It should have been more about me! Oh well, maybe next time!

I haven't watched my copy yet - maybe I'll save it for a day when there is absolutely nothing else on anywhere! Such a shame - it sounds like a real disappointment. Uma - how could you?!
