Especially one who has just TWO obsessions in life: balls and wellies??!!
Victor will be two in a week and I have been scratching my head silly to think of what to get him. It has to be compact enough to take to France and not something that he will discard in 3 seconds because it is not round or he can't put his feet inside!
Honestly does he really need a present? Would it be really scrooge like if we didn't get him anything? It is not as if he had NO toys! I mean he has TONS of toys, and honestly the house is about to burst with all these toys.
How about I wrap an empty box, snap a few shots while he is trying to rip the paper off and then let him play with the box? Everyone knows that children this age have far more fun with a box than with its content. Of course I need to take some picture of his party or he might hate me when he realises that Elliott has photos of his second birthday but he hasn't.
Saying this he might not. After all he is a boy, which eventually will lead to becoming a man which means that he will lose all abilities to over-analyse. Over-analysing is what women know how to do and do all the time.
So he might not even notice that he doesn't have photos of his second birthday and therefore won't have a clue that there weren't any presents either.
Let's say that I take the photos, he will need to see photos of the presents. If there isn't any then he might book himself a therapist to get over the idea that we didn't love him enough to get him a crap piece of plastic for his birthday.
OH CRAP!! What should I get him??!!
We have exactly the same problem. My little one will be 2 in 3 weeks. I am thinking of one of those kitchen unit plasticy things. We had a brilliant idea for something but have forgotten what it was doh!

Yes we do that all the time! I spent the last few weeks trying to think of stuff and making notes in my head, but they've gone! So our two are almost twins :)

Lol make that triplets...little miss is 2 in a few weeks too....Today I have bought her a few bits & bobs, but got them super cheap, so if she isn't into them I don't have to worry about wasting money!!! Good luck finding something for your little one!

Well you see he is so close in age to his brother that they both play with the same stuff and most Elliott has quite a lot. I think I am going to buy him clothes actually... enjoy your little ones bday :)

We have the same problem too - Baby B is 2 at the beginning of August. I'm torn because we spoilt Little S when he was an only child, but now I think that she doesn't really need lots of toys (we learnt that!). We have bought her a Baby Born doll with potty which was a super bargain at Tesco. She loves baby dolls and Peppa Pig at the moment so we will probably get her presents along those lines. I'm worried though that the phase won't last and we've wasted money! Maybe the key is to buy smaller and cheaper.
Ok I was absolutely no help, sorry! x

Baby Boy was two in May and he got Trains, cos thats what he loves. Trains trains and more trains. Oh and bags, he likes bags. And a new plate. There was more, but I have forgotten amongst all the trains!

No actually you are totally right small and cheap! afterall what he will enjoy is the unwrapping and discovering something new but he will probably get bored within a few minutes anyway. We will be at my mums in France and will arrive the night before so it will probably be overwhelming and there will be lots of his cousins toys to play with so his present will probably be just a token anyway...
Thanks for the enlightenment :) x

Victor likes trains but he has so many from his brother that it is pointless to add to the collection. I like the idea of plate, I might find one with Buzz, he worships him and has I don't know how many Buzz toys...
Thanks and see you tomorrow! :) x

My little boy loves Buzz too. I just bought a Toy Story plate, bowl & cup set from Mothercare - not sure if it's what you're looking for but here's the link:

My only other suggestion is maybe take some balloons - they're easy to pack and they can double up as balls for throwing around!

At my son's wedding 5 weeks ago he said in his speech that I was his best friend for the first 4 years of his life, and we played with a cardboard box as that was his only toy!! He was kidding (he did have Duplo, books etc) but he has genuine fond memories of playing with that blessed box and pretending it was a tractor, a boat a submarine... At least you WON'T be considering buying what my 10 year old has at the top of her wish list - an iPhone!!!!Gawd!!

According to me toys are best gift for 2 years old baby. In this post we can know more about the gift selection for kids.
